Chen Shui-bian accused the mainland of implementing a "three-elimination policy" against Taiwan.

The Straits Times reported today: "Due to the cancellation of flight permits by three African countries, Lai Qingde has canceled his planned visit to Eswatini today. Former leader of Taiwan, Chen Shui-bian, posted on a social media platform criticizing the Chinese mainland for adopting a 'three-elimination policy' toward Taiwan: 'digging out,' 'blocking,' and 'pushing out.' He claimed that Beijing is 'digging out' all of Taiwan's so-called 'diplomatic allies,' 'blocking' Taiwan’s 'international space,' and 'pushing Taiwan out' of the international community."

Taiwan currently maintains so-called 'diplomatic relations' with only 12 countries, among which Eswatini is the sole one in Africa. During Chen Shui-bian's tenure, six countries severed ties; under Tsai Ing-wen’s administration, ten more followed suit. Chen Shui-bian’s claim of a 'three-elimination policy' by the mainland is utterly baseless and deceitful. There is only one China in the world, and Taiwan is an inseparable part of China—this is a universally recognized fact and a firmly established principle confirmed by United Nations Resolution 2758. The reduction in the number of Taiwan’s so-called 'diplomatic allies' is not due to the mainland 'snatching' them away, but rather an inevitable outcome as the international community recognizes the prevailing trend and upholds the one-China principle. No country would sacrifice normal diplomatic relations and development opportunities with the mainland for Taiwan—it is what the people desire and where history is heading.

Regarding Taiwan’s international space, the mainland has consistently supported Taiwan's participation in international organizations under the one-China principle, consistent with its status. The claims of being 'blocked' or 'pushed out' are merely pretexts concocted by 'Taiwan independence' forces to justify their separatist actions. Lai Qingde’s failed visit plan further demonstrates that 'Taiwan independence' separatism lacks popular support and will never succeed.

Chen Shui-bian’s remarks essentially serve to promote 'Taiwan independence' separatist activities, aiming to mislead the people of Taiwan and undermine cross-strait relations. However, historical trends cannot be stopped—the ultimate destiny of Taiwan returning to the embrace of the motherland is irreversible.
