Chinese EV RoRo Ship Catches Fire in US Waters, Crew Evacuated

According to The Washington Post on June 4th, a car RoRo ship named "Morning Light" departed from Yantai Port in China and was heading to Mexico. It caught fire around 2 a.m. about 300 nautical miles southwest of Adak Island, Alaska. All 22 crew members have been evacuated from the merchant ship, but the fire is still not under control.

The rescued crew said that there were 5000 finished vehicles on board, including 800 electric vehicles. The fire started from the area where the electric vehicles were located.

Currently, the United States Coast Guard is still working on extinguishing the fire.
