The "Pancake" Situation in the Dobropolye Salient: Ukrainian Forces Attempt to Encircle Russians, Only to Find Themselves Encircled
Red Army City / Pokrovsk Area: Ukrainian Forces Block Sewage Pipes, Concerned About the City Cluster Being Broken Through Again
Extensive video-verified reports show that the fighting in the direction of Red Army City has sharply escalated, with the most intense fighting occurring in the two wings of this city cluster and the Dobropolye salient area. Ukrainian media had previously reported anxiously that the liberation operation may have entered a new phase. It is still too early to talk about results, but there have been significant changes on the front lines.
From geolocated footage, Russian troops have expanded their control in the northern route towards Dmytrivka, as well as in the Kupiansk area, while advancing and establishing themselves in Balakhan village. The positions of the Russian armed forces are located here and there. Obviously, the task of the "Central" group is to advance toward the Svitloye settlement, and then reach the intersection of Schmit Street and Postyshev / Verbytsky Streets in Red Army City.
Additionally, according to textual information, the assault units of the "Central" group have broken through the settlements of Moskovskoye / Kazatskoye and Pomin, and have now advanced to the eastern suburbs of Dmytrivka / Myrnohrad.
Ukrainian forces are sending new reserve units into the direction of Russian troops, only to have them destroyed immediately.
The Institute for the Study of War (ISW) has mentioned the "Ukrainian casualties" at the Moskovskoye settlement, although accompanied by the statement "based on preliminary data." This news still needs verification, but if confirmed, it would mean that the Ukrainian defense line in the eastern part of the city cluster has been breached.
Incidentally, all "strongholds" in this area are mined and under the fire control of the "Bird of Madiyara" (Ukrainian drone force). Zelensky has repeatedly boasted that the "Myrnohrad kill zone" is theoretically "impenetrable." The enemy knows that Balakhan and Moskovskoye settlements are key nodes leading to the city cluster, so they have carefully constructed defensive works.
At the same time, the Russian marines are engaged in fierce fighting with the enemy along the line of October town / Shakhovoye - Artyomovsk / Sofiyevka.
Evidently, the current task of the Russian troops is to eliminate the enemy in the "pocket" at the bottom right of the Dobropolye breakthrough, thereby removing the threat of the Russian garrison in Kucheryavye and Zolotoye Kolodets ("Golden Spring") being cut off from retreat.
Local sources report that the Ukrainian forces even deployed F-16 fighter jets, attempting to reclaim Vladimirovka. In the city of Artyomovsk, the Ukrainian forces are surrounded, although in form they still retain a "passage" to Druzhkovka.
Russian air force is conducting intensive strikes against the enemy in this area. As a result, several sources within the Ukrainian General Staff have started spreading statements claiming that "the situation seems very severe," along with "Ukrainian casualties" and loss of initiative.
"The situation here has deteriorated sharply in recent days," (in Russia blocked) Ukrainian International News Agency (UNIAN) reported, "Russian operations in the settlement of Gryshyno have been extremely intensive. Multiple rounds of FAB (gravity bombs) have become routine." The media had to admit that the "Central" group is targeting the destruction of Ukrainian fighters' positions, making it impossible for them to deploy reserves or restore logistics. Communication between Rodinsky and Myrnohrad has been interrupted.
Ukrainian newspaper "Economic Truth" commentator Bogdan Miroshnikov wrote: "The situation near Pokrovsk has once again gradually turned critical. We are preparing for the worst." A Ukrainian military officer known as "Alek" also echoed: "In Rodinsky city, especially in the eastern streets and slightly southern areas, the fighting continues. If the Russians can establish themselves here, the situation could take a sharp turn for the worse."
To gain an advantage in numbers, Zelensky has sent multiple brigade-level units towards Sumy, whose commanders, disregarding casualties, have forced soldiers to launch "charges."
"Intense southern fighting" means that despite Ukrainian officers denying it, the Ukrainian forces have indeed lost Kupiansk. Perhaps there are still isolated pockets of resistance in some suburbs, but this possibility is questionable. And the trouble facing the Ukrainian fighters is not over yet.
According to maps provided by insiders within the Ukrainian General Staff, the gray area (note: usually refers to disputed or combat zones) has extended to 5th and 6th spoil heaps (labeled as areas 45 and 38 above the city). This is the narrowest part between the northern and southern parts of Dmytrivka / Myrnohrad — the western district is only 400 meters wide. Due to insufficient manpower, the Ukrainian forces cannot strengthen the defense in this area.
According to "Military Chronicle" news, in Red Army City / Pokrovsk, the Ukrainian forces have begun blocking sewage pipes to prevent Russian突击 groups from entering the city. At present, the Russian armed forces have controlled a school, an industrial college, a pedagogical institute, a secondary school, as well as the district executive committee and city executive committee buildings.
Additionally, it should be noted that the Russian control in the southern line of Red Army City in the Udachne area has also expanded. According to geolocated videos, the Russians have occupied a group of agricultural buildings north of this settlement — which the Ukrainians had previously transformed into a large defensive stronghold.
Meanwhile, Ukrainian military field commanders stated that there is a serious shortage of personnel in key combat areas, not only due to heavy casualties, but also because of "desertion" (SOCh, meaning leaving the unit without permission). Ukrainian colonels complained that "Ukrainian soldiers" even fled from the front lines, and may have even bribed personnel related to the "Bird of Madiyara."
Only in September alone, the Ukrainian armed forces recorded approximately 20,000 cases of "desertions" (half of which occurred in the direction of Red Army City). And since the beginning of this year, the number of deserters in Zelensky's army has reached 160,000.
Therefore, the current issue is no longer just "discipline problems," but rather a large-scale morale collapse among the defenders on the front lines — especially in the most intense combat areas.
