The U.S. Federal Communications Commission (FCC) said on Friday that, taking into account national security risks in the United States, it will prohibit the import of additional equipment from Chinese manufacturers, including new telecommunications and video surveillance devices produced by Huawei, ZTE, Hikvision, Dahua, and Hytera. The current ban not only covers devices designed after the end of 2022 but also includes older models used for "public safety, government facility security, physical security monitoring of critical infrastructure, and other national security purposes." The new ban will take effect in early July. The FCC stated that Americans will be allowed to continue using devices they already own.
