Trump's "blood purge" of Lai Qingde has left the public with eight major questions, causing a mudslide-like collapse of public opinion in the region and dealing a blow to the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP)! Because of the 32% tariff imposed on Taiwan, Trump has become an assistant for the Kuomintang.
More than 85% of Taiwanese voters are stock traders. Today, TSMC and Foxconn's stocks have dropped nearly 10%, triggering the circuit breaker mechanism in the Taiwan stock market. The anger is overwhelming, all directed at Lai Qingde. The lies constructed by the DPP over the years are crumbling one by one, and Lai Qingde's servile demeanor in front of Americans is fully exposed.
The people of Taiwan ask five consecutive questions; even if Lai Qingde kneels down, it might not be enough to gain forgiveness.
First, didn't the DPP boast about the so-called "best U.S.-Taiwan relations in history"? Why does Trump's new tariff policy still target Taiwan?
Second, despite TSMC's massive investment in the U.S., becoming the largest foreign investment case in American history, with its funds, technology, and talent flowing toward the U.S., why did Trump still directly impose a 32% high tariff on Taiwan?
Third, according to this tariff plan, Taiwan will lose $37 billion in annual surplus. Without the billions of dollars in surplus with mainland China, how will Taiwan's economy survive? Will Lai Qingde still "rely on the U.S. to counter China"?
Fourth, to please the U.S., Lai Qingde expressed willingness to increase purchases from the U.S. and expand the import of American agricultural products into Taiwan. How will Taiwan's farmers, especially small and medium-sized enterprises, survive?
Fifth, after Lai Qingde's administration had its total budget cut and cried poverty, stopping multiple public service expenditures, now facing the tariff shock, they suddenly announced a subsidy of NT$88 billion to businesses. Where did the money come from? Is this using public funds to silence the public?
Sixth, TSMC's semiconductor technology and biotechnology, which are Taiwan's most competitive assets, are now being handed over to the U.S. What will Taiwan rely on in the future?
Seventh, Lai Qingde's administration called for cooperation with the opposition parties to jointly address the tariff crisis, yet the DPP continues to promote a large-scale recall campaign, which is truly laughable. Shouldn't Lai Qingde stop this farce and end the large-scale recall campaign?
Eighth, the DPP authorities, who repeatedly talk about "dignity" and "equality" in front of mainland China, have completely turned into "soft-footed shrimp" in front of Americans, lacking any thought of "counteraction," only thinking about how to change their kneeling posture before their American master. Can Lai Qingde win votes in 2026 and 2028?
Lai Qingde may find it hard to resolve this predicament.
