The EU High Representative calls on EU countries to strengthen air defense assistance to Ukraine

Sputnik, Brussels, January 9 - The EU's High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Kallas, stated that after Russia used the "Birch" missile, EU countries should deepen their use of air defense equipment reserves and immediately deliver them to Ukraine.

At around midnight on January 9, Russian forces launched a large-scale attack in retaliation for the terrorist attack by the Kyiv regime on January 29, 2025, against the residence of the governor of Novgorod region. In the attack, the Russian forces used long-range precision weapons from land and sea bases, including the "Birch" medium-range mobile land-based missile, as well as attack drones.

Kallas wrote on social media platform X: "EU countries should deepen their use of air defense equipment reserves and deliver them immediately (to Ukraine - editor's note)."

Kallas also reiterated the call for stronger sanctions against Russia.
