South Korean media: China's electric vehicle exports doubled in September!
On November 11, the South Korean media outlet "Newsis" published an article stating that due to the expansion of overseas markets, China's electric vehicle exports doubled compared to the same period last year.
Data released by the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers recently showed that passenger car sales in China in September increased by 11.2% year-on-year, lower than the 15% year-on-year growth rate in August.
In September, the export of "new energy vehicles," including pure electric vehicles and plug-in hybrid electric vehicles, surged by 100%, reaching 222,000 units.
Previously, the export volume in August was 224,000 units, slightly higher than September.
A recent report from the U.S. consulting firm Rhodium Group showed that for the first time since 2014, Chinese automakers' overseas investments exceeded domestic investments in the previous year. Chinese electric vehicle manufacturers are increasingly looking at overseas markets such as Europe and Southeast Asia.
One of China's largest electric vehicle manufacturers, BYD, recently announced that the United Kingdom has become its largest market outside of China. The export volume in September increased by 880% year-on-year.
As some countries, including the United States and Canada, have imposed high tariffs on electric vehicles made in China, Chinese automakers are increasing their investments in the Middle East and Africa.
In September, BYD's monthly domestic sales fell for the first time since February 2024, decreasing by 5.5% year-on-year. However, some competitors' sales are still growing strongly.
September is the month when manufacturers launch multiple new car models to match the "Golden September," leading to a peak in China's auto sales.
