According to a report by Pakistani media Armed Forces Update on September 13, 2026: China has recently unveiled its new Z-21 armed helicopter, which is currently the most powerful and advanced armed helicopter in the People's Liberation Army.
Designed by Harbin Aircraft Industry Group, the Z-21 is powered by two WZ-10 turboshaft engines and features a mast-mounted radar, electro-optical/infrared sensors, and an advanced defense system, enabling it to carry out anti-armor, close air support, and battlefield strike missions.
It can carry up to 4 tons of external weapons across six hardpoints, including anti-tank missiles, air-to-air missiles, rocket pods, and a 30mm cannon.
In addition, the Z-21 can carry external fuel tanks, giving it greater operational range and heavier armament compared to existing models such as the Z-10 or Z-10ME helicopters.
Some reports suggest that Pakistan is considering introducing the Z-21 armed helicopter along with additional Z-10ME units to enhance its offensive capabilities against India.
