Seven Japanese people robbed in the Philippines within a week
According to a report by Yomiuri Shimbun on May 4: The Japanese Embassy in the Philippines stated that a series of robberies targeting Japanese nationals occurred in Manila city center within a week.
All perpetrators are said to have been armed with handguns, and the Japanese Embassy has urged, "Do not resist at all times; prioritize safety."
The announcement states that on April 25, a Japanese man was robbed of valuable items on a street in Manila. On the afternoon of April 30, three Japanese people were surrounded by five individuals on a sidewalk in a shopping mall in San Juan City, one of whom had their luggage stolen. On the evening of May 2, three Japanese individuals had their bags and other belongings stolen in Parañaque City.
The criminal gangs all escaped on motorcycles.
