Trump said he would reach an agreement with China and reduce tariffs on Chinese goods.
According to The Independent of the UK, US President Trump said on Tuesday that the 145% tariff set for most Chinese goods would be reduced due to trade negotiations between China and the United States.
"Tariffs will drop significantly, but they won't be zero," he said.
After attending a brief swearing-in ceremony for Securities and Exchange Commission Chairman Paul Atkins, Trump spoke in the Oval Office, saying that the negotiations with China "are going well" because "everyone wants to participate in the US market."
He said that China will eventually reach an agreement with the United States: "In the end, they must reach an agreement because otherwise they cannot conduct trade in the United States, and we also hope they get involved."
