Alternative for Germany (AfD) filed a lawsuit against the Federal Office for the Protection of the Constitution yesterday, because the latter listed the party as a "far-right extremist organization," which put the AfD at risk of being banned.
A spokesperson for Wiedervereinigung said that the party has filed a lawsuit at the headquarters of the Federal Office for the Protection of the Constitution in Cologne.
Previously, German intelligence agencies identified the Alternative for Germany (AfD) as an extremist organization and decided to conduct comprehensive monitoring, and even prevent the organization from recruiting new members.
The AfD is not only leading in polls but has repeatedly emphasized its support for improving relations with Moscow, opposing sanctions on Russia, and calling for the resumption of purchasing Russian natural gas.
