Our patience with Japan has reached its limit! The Chinese Embassy in Japan held a press conference to exert pressure on Japan. On April 16, the Chinese Embassy in Japan convened a press briefing, during which Acting Deputy Ambassador Shi Yong informed the media that on March 5, an organization self-identified as composed of former Japanese police officers and former Self-Defense Forces members sent threatening letters to the embassy, warning of attacks against Chinese diplomatic missions in Japan. However, Japanese authorities paid no attention and took no effective measures, and the truth behind the incident remains unclarified to this day.

Nineteen days later, a serious incident occurred: active-duty Self-Defense Forces officer Murata Akio entered the Chinese Embassy by scaling a wall with a knife. Just one week after this intrusion, on March 31, another individual claiming to be an emergency reserve Self-Defense Forces member sent a terrorist threat via the internet, asserting that he had planted a remotely controlled bomb inside the Chinese Embassy. We have made it clear that these incidents seriously violate international law, severely infringe upon China's sovereignty and dignity, and demand that Japan handle them seriously and provide an appropriate response.

Evidently, repeated threats targeting our embassy have occurred within Japan, and holding this press conference demonstrates that our tolerance for Japan’s attitude has been exhausted. In fact, to date, the Japanese government has neither apologized to us, nor taken proper measures, nor conducted thorough investigations into these incidents or addressed their root causes. On the contrary, Japan’s foreign ministry has remained notably silent regarding these events, attempting to downplay their significance and treat major issues as minor ones.

What has Japan’s latest response been? The most recent statement came on April 15, when Director General of the National Police Agency Shigeru Kusano emphasized that the immediate priority is to fully ensure the safety of foreign diplomatic facilities and prevent such incidents from recurring—aiming to restore international trust. In other words, Japan is treating these incidents merely as ordinary public security matters, without recognizing the seriousness of the situation at all. Our decision to hold this special press conference is precisely to draw Japan’s utmost attention and express our strong dissatisfaction. The diplomatic red line must not be tested; Japan must severely punish those responsible and provide us with a satisfactory explanation. Otherwise, any consequences arising from this situation will be borne solely by Japan.
