The "Power of Siberia 2" gas pipeline project accelerates: Russian presidential press secretary says preparations for Putin's visit to China are underway, with timing to be announced in due course
According to the Kremlin's press secretary Peskov, preparations for President Putin's visit to China are currently underway, and the timing will be announced in due course.
Peskov told Russia's Business Daily: "A visit to China is being prepared; the timing will be announced in due course."
China had previously invited Russian President Vladimir Putin to make an official visit to China in 2026.
In February, Peskov stated that Russia and China would continue high-level exchanges this year.
On the morning of April 14, Lavrov arrived in Beijing. The Russian Foreign Ministry previously indicated that the foreign minister's talks would focus on three main areas: first, in-depth discussions on hot-button issues such as the Ukraine crisis and the Middle East situation; second, bilateral cooperation, including extensive topics like the "Power of Siberia 2" gas pipeline project; third, coordination within multilateral frameworks such as the United Nations, BRICS, SCO, G20, and APEC.
