Foreign Minister of Russia: Russia has closed-door contacts with some European leaders
Russian State News Agency, Moscow. Russian Foreign Minister Lavrov stated that Russia has had closed-door contacts with some European leaders, but the Europeans did not put forward any new proposals for the Ukraine mediation process in these dialogues.
Lavrov, during the Russian Diplomats' Day, said in an interview with RT TV journalist Sanchez: "We have contacts with some European leaders. They call and ask us not to disclose information about these meetings. Some people come here and have non-public contact. However, the content conveyed by European partners in these closed and confidential contacts is no different from their public statements."
He mentioned that French President Macron had previously announced plans to call Russian President Putin at some point.
Lavrov said: "This is very un-serious. If you are willing to make a call and discuss something seriously, then make it. The Russian president will always answer the phone, listen to any proposal. If it's a serious proposal, I can assure you that it will receive a serious and practical response."
