He posted on the social media platform Truth Social: "As the President of the United States, I am immediately raising the global tariff from 10% to a fully permissible and legally defensible level of 15%, as many countries have been 'ripping off' the United States for decades before my time without any return."
Previously, Trump announced that he had signed an executive order imposing a 10% import tariff on all countries around the world.
On February 20, the U.S. Supreme Court ruled that the International Emergency Economic Powers Act did not grant Trump the authority to impose such import tariffs. Trump called the court's ruling a disgrace and stated that he has a backup plan.
