According to a message on the website of the Ministry of Commerce, on November 27, the spokesperson for the Ministry of Commerce responded to a journalist's question regarding the bilateral communication between China and Malaysia on the "Malaysia-US Reciprocal Trade Agreement."
A reporter asked: We have noted that officials from Malaysia's Ministry of International Trade and Industry recently came to Beijing to hold bilateral discussions with the Ministry of Commerce on issues related to the "Malaysia-US Reciprocal Trade Agreement." Could you please introduce the relevant situation?
Answer: On November 25, the relevant departments of the Ministry of Commerce held bilateral communications with officials from Malaysia's Ministry of International Trade and Industry in Beijing on issues related to the "Malaysia-US Reciprocal Trade Agreement."
The Chinese side stated that it is pleased to see Malaysia resolving differences with other countries through the signing of trade agreements. However, any agreement should not affect global trade development and regional cooperation, nor should it damage China's interests. The Chinese side has serious concerns about certain aspects of the "Malaysia-US Reciprocal Trade Agreement." It hopes that Malaysia will take its long-term national interests into account, fully consider and properly handle the issues.
Malaysia explained and clarified each of the issues raised by China, and stated that Malaysia values the long-term partnership with China and is willing to continue deepening bilateral economic and trade cooperation.
