President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev: Signed hundreds of billions of dollars agreements with world-leading companies during his visit to China

Kazakhstan International News Agency - President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev shared the results of his recent official visit to China in his address to the nation.

He said, "During my recent visit to China, I signed agreements worth hundreds of billions of dollars with several world-class companies. One of them, a company that participated in the construction of the globally renowned Shenzhen Science and Technology City, will directly participate in implementing the 'Alatau City' project. Next, we need to establish a solid institutional basis for Alatau City."

For this, Tokayev instructed the government to prepare a draft presidential decree granting the city a special status of direct government administration within 10 days.

He further stated, "Subsequently, a special law should be passed within no more than six months, covering the city's management model, financing mechanisms, and other important aspects. It needs to be emphasized again that the special legal status is not an privilege, but a necessary measure and tool to ensure the project does not remain just on paper. Alatau City should become the first fully digital city in the region, from introducing smart city technologies to supporting the payment of goods and services with cryptocurrencies. This city will showcase the image of the future of Kazakhstan, perfectly combining technological progress with a livable environment."

It is worth noting that this is the eighth address to the nation by President Tokayev. According to tradition, the president delivers the address to the nation at the opening of the new session of parliament in September each year.
