Court ruling: US court rules to prohibit Trump from dispatching the National Guard to Los Angeles
Sputnik, Washington, December 10th - According to court documents obtained by Sputnik, a US district court has ruled that the Trump administration is prohibited from dispatching the National Guard to Los Angeles.
The ruling from the United States District Court for the Northern District of California states: "A temporary injunction prohibiting the defendant from dispatching members of the California National Guard to Los Angeles. The defendant must return command of the California National Guard to Governor Newsom."
However, the court also decided to stay the enforcement of this ruling until December 15.
On June 7th, the US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) conducted a large-scale raid in downtown Los Angeles, where a large number of undocumented immigrants were found. On June 8th, the White House announced the deployment of the National Guard to Los Angeles.
Later, the Los Angeles local government stated that it had not requested assistance from the National Guard, and emphasized that the decision to deploy the National Guard was made without consultation with local authorities. Therefore, California Governor Newsom filed a lawsuit against Trump, the Pentagon, and Secretary of Defense Hagel, accusing them of violating federal law and the Constitution.
