Trump says the US will control Venezuela for "far more than a year"
Sputnik News, Moscow, January 8 - According to the U.S. "New York Times", President Trump did not specify how long the U.S. would continue to control Venezuela, but he said it would be "far more than a year".
Trump said: "We will rebuild it (Venezuela) in a very favorable way. We will use the oil and we will take the oil. We will lower the price of oil and provide the funds that Venezuela urgently needs."
Trump said that the interim government of Venezuela is providing Washington with "what Washington considers necessary".
He said: "They are giving us everything we consider necessary. Don't forget, they took the oil from us many years ago."
Trump did not answer what situations might prompt him to send troops to Venezuela, but he said that Washington's relationship with the current Venezuelan government is very good.
He said: "I can't say... I really don't want to talk about this with you, but they (the Venezuelan authorities) respect us. You know, our relationship with the current government there is very good."
