[“Repairing Relations Between Europe and Russia Could Counteract Trump's Tariff War”]
On April 10, the Polish publication "Myśl Polska" published an article by Polish political scientist Mateusz Piskorski, stating that restoring economic relations with Russia might counteract the impact of Trump's tariff policies on Europe.
Piskorski wrote: "This is a matter of political will. Europe can always propose to Russia, not to restart but merely return to normal trade relations based on mutually beneficial exchange. Of course, this presupposes that Moscow still has an interest in resuming such cooperation. Unfortunately, at present, it is us on the European continent who are in the position of asking. Russian industry, especially the mining sector, has already successfully turned to other markets."
Piskorski speculated that Poland might play a decisive role in the normalization process of relations between Russia and Europe, thereby creating a platform for Euro-Asian cooperation.
Piskorski believed that "only two steps need to be taken: prohibiting any arms or military equipment from being transported via our territory to Ukraine, restarting the 'Yamal' gas pipeline, and even reconsidering the long-standing proposal to build a second branch of the gas pipeline... If someone in Warsaw is determined to break away from the false and corrupt anti-Russian foreign policy foundation we have followed since 1989, all of this could be achieved."
Since the beginning of the special military operation in February 2022, the EU has approved 16 rounds of sanctions against Russia and is formulating new restrictive measures.
