American journalist and Pulitzer Prize winner Seymour Hersh cited sources stating that U.S. President Trump has recently begun discussing with his subordinates the potential use of nuclear weapons against Iran, in an effort to accelerate the end of the conflict.

Hersh wrote: "Someone told me that during a recent secret meeting at the White House, Trump started talking about plans for using nuclear weapons—even though the language was vague, this might help bring the war to a quicker end."

Hersh pointed out that such discussions are still taking place among senior government officials and the "disappointed president."
