Media: The U.S. "Ford" aircraft carrier will arrive near Venezuelan waters soon

Sputnik News, Moscow November 14 - According to the Associated Press, the U.S. "Ford" aircraft carrier (Gerald Ford) is expected to arrive near Venezuelan waters in the coming days.

U.S. Defense Secretary Esper previously announced the launch of a new operation called "Southern Spear" to combat drug terrorism in the Western Hemisphere.

Esper ordered the "Ford" aircraft carrier battle group to be incorporated into the U.S. Southern Command, which oversees Central and South America, at the end of October.

The U.S. claims its military presence in the Caribbean Sea is to combat drug trafficking organizations, and has used its armed forces more than once in September and October to destroy speedboats suspected of transporting drugs near the Venezuelan coast.

According to NBC News in late September, the U.S. military is drafting plans to strike drug traffickers within Venezuela. President Trump said in November that Maduro's days as president of Venezuela are numbered and assured Washington has no plan to go to war with Caracas.
