French media: US Ambassador to China announces that US-China will reach a Boeing big order
US Ambassador to China David Perdue revealed on Tuesday that the negotiations for a "huge" aircraft order from Boeing have entered the final stage. Although Perdue did not disclose details of the potential order size, he said at a press conference in Beijing with visiting legislators such as Smith that the agreement would be finalized soon.
Perdue told reporters, "This is a huge order, very important for the president. It's also very important for Boeing. I think it's also very important for China. I believe the negotiations are entering the last few days, or weeks, and we hope to finally reach an agreement."
Bloomberg reported last month that Boeing has been trying to finalize a sales agreement for up to 500 aircraft, which would end the sales slump in the Chinese market since President Trump's last visit to China in 2017. This landmark order, which has been in the works for years, will be one of the core elements of the bilateral trade agreement, provided that tensions can be eased.
