South Korean media: The Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. who was unfairly implicated
Rev. Martin Luther King Jr., an American Black civil rights activist, is well known for his famous speech "I Have a Dream." Fifty-seven years after his death, he remains a spiritual pillar for the multi-racial American society. To commemorate his life of pursuing racial equality and harmony, the United States designated the third Monday of January, which falls around his birthday (January 15th), as a national holiday. In the United States, he is the second person after the first president Washington to have his birthday designated as a public holiday.
¬ But the Rev. King had an unexpected dark side. In the 1960s, the FBI was dissatisfied with his activities, associated him with communists, and monitored him for several years. However, the FBI found no evidence that he engaged in communist activities, but instead discovered his decadent private life. The Rev. King held sex parties at seminars sponsored by companies, and had children with married women. The night before he delivered his "I Have a Dream" speech, he was still hiring prostitutes in a hotel room. Former President Lyndon Johnson had all the audio files, but did not make them public due to concerns about opposition from the Black community. When he was attacked by the Rev. King, he played the audio recordings of the Rev. King's conversations with prostitutes to vent his anger.
¬ Decades later, this history suddenly came to light. On the 21st, Trump released 230,000 pages of FBI confidential documents, revealing the entire process of the Rev. King's assassination in 1968. During his first term in 2017, Trump also publicly released a 20-page FBI confidential document titled "The Private Life of King." However, the extent of this exposure was entirely different. According to U.S. media speculation, Trump was cornered by the so-called Epstein scandal and brought up the Rev. King to shift public attention.
¬ Epstein was a wealthy financier who was arrested for alleged child sexual abuse and trafficking, and committed suicide in prison in 2019. However, recent revelations suggest that on Epstein's birthday, Trump personally painted and sent nude female paintings, along with obscene birthday cards. Therefore, there are rumors that Trump might be on Epstein's list of sexual guests. Elon Musk also indirectly attacked Trump, saying, "Many people in power do not want that list to be made public."
¬ Trump is good at shifting public attention when he is in deep trouble. During the 2016 presidential election TV debate, Democratic candidate Hillary accused him of frequently making vulgar remarks. Trump said, "I just talk, your husband actually does it," and mentioned Bill Clinton's "Monica Lewinsky affair." As of now, 26 women have claimed to have experienced sexual violence by Trump. Cases where the Rev. King was unfairly implicated and disgraced due to Trump are unlikely to be the last.
