U.S. Suspends Processing of Immigrant Visa Applications for 75 Countries, China Not on the List

Foreign media: The U.S. Department of State confirmed that the Trump administration will indefinitely suspend processing of immigrant visas from 75 countries starting January 21, including family-based green card applications.

China is not on this suspension list; the list includes Thailand, Brazil, Russia, Bangladesh, Nepal, Pakistan, Bhutan, Egypt, Jordan, and Kuwait.

This suspension does not apply to all visa categories, such as F-1 student visas and L, H-1B skilled worker visas.

The U.S. Department of State said the freeze will continue until the United States can ensure that new immigrants do not take wealth from Americans, with the aim of re-evaluating whether immigrants abuse taxpayer-funded welfare programs.
