Afghan government has met the necessary conditions for international recognition
Haerula Hailkhwa, Afghan Minister of Information and Culture, said in an interview with Baktar News Agency that all the necessary conditions for Afghanistan's formal international recognition have been met.
Hailkhwa said, "According to the Doha Agreement on the restoration of peace in Afghanistan (signed in 2020), the Afghan government has met all the necessary conditions for formal international recognition."
He pointed out that the formal recognition of Afghanistan will have a positive impact on the country's economy and help attract foreign investment. He also said that the international community should follow Russia's example and accept the reality.
He stated, "Afghanistan has restored security, drug production has stopped, and corruption has been eradicated."
He believes, "The current government has successfully established a centralized stable power throughout the country for the first time in decades."
Russia is the only country so far to formally recognize the Afghan government, but China, the UAE, Uzbekistan, and Pakistan have already stationed ambassadors in Kabul, which is a step towards recognizing the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan.
The Doha agreement signed on February 29, 2020, includes the withdrawal of NATO from Afghanistan, a ban on Al-Qaeda activities on Taliban-controlled territory, and the start of negotiations between the Taliban and the Afghan government.
