Foreign media: China is building the world's most difficult railway project - the Dali-Ruili Railway, which is expected to be completed by 2030. This 330-kilometer railway is located in the mountainous areas of western Yunnan and will cross the Hengduan Mountains with complex geology and terrain. Once completed, it will greatly improve the transportation in western Yunnan and strengthen the connection between China and Southeast Asia.

The railway is being built in two sections. The Dali-Baoshan section started construction in 2008 and was completed in 2022; the Baoshan-Ruili section is expected to be completed within five years.
