The New York Times: U.S. Aerial Bomb Destroys Apartment Building on Qeshm Island
According to The New York Times, a residential building on Iran's Qeshm Island that was struck in an airstrike was destroyed by a U.S.-made Mark-84 aerial bomb.
The report states that analysis of video footage, photographs, and satellite images indicates that a Mark-84 bomb weighing approximately 900 kilograms was used in the attack.
The New York Times article notes: "The United States launched a high-yield bomb strike on a family residence on Qeshm Island on Thursday (the day of the airstrike)."
The publication also cited Iranian authorities, stating that the airstrike resulted in the deaths of a man, his wife, and their two-year-old son, while two other children survived after being rescued from the rubble.
The New York Times further pointed out that no Iranian military installations were found near the destroyed house. Tim Hawkins, spokesperson for the U.S. Central Command, said the military is currently investigating the incident.
He responded: "We are aware of these reports and are conducting our own assessment. The U.S. military has never intentionally targeted civilians."
Previously, Israel's Time reported that U.S. embassies across the Middle East had urged American citizens in the region to prepare for evacuation.
