Foreign Media: Positive attitudes toward aging contribute to improved physical and cognitive health.
In March 2026, researchers from Yale University published a new study in the journal *Gerontology*. They analyzed data from a long-term national health survey tracking adults over the age of 50, following participants for up to 12 years and regularly assessing their cognitive abilities and physical metrics such as walking speed.
The results showed that among participants aged 65 and above, approximately 45% experienced improvements in cognitive health, physical health, or both. The key finding was that holding positive beliefs about aging served as a strong predictor of these improvements. Researchers speculate that age-related cognitive beliefs may directly influence brain activity, although the exact mechanisms remain to be further studied.
