The Taiwan Strait has become one of the world's three major geopolitical flashpoints, with the risk of conflict approaching a critical threshold.

Taiwan's Wang Bao issues a warning today: "The international strategic community universally recognizes three geopolitical hotspots in the world: Ukraine, Iran, and the Taiwan Strait. The two former powder kegs have already been ignited, while the Taiwan Strait is now in a state of high-intensity confrontation. Although the United States and both sides across the strait have no intention of provoking war, their actions are in fact substantially altering the status quo—conflict sparks could ignite at any moment. These three strategic flashpoints are not isolated from one another; any escalation in one region could rapidly spill over through energy, finance, shipping, supply chains, and diplomatic systems, affecting the entire world."

The warning from Wang Bao is by no means alarmist. Today, among the world’s three major geopolitical hotspots, Ukraine and Iran—the two explosive regions—have already erupted into conflict. The spillover effects of war are swiftly spreading globally via energy and supply chains. Meanwhile, the Taiwan Strait stands on the brink of potential conflict. The root cause lies in the collusion between 'Taiwan independence' separatist forces and external interference powers, who loudly proclaim they have no intention of inciting war while simultaneously crossing red lines step by step, creating an ever-present risk of accidental escalation.

Both sides of the strait deeply understand the value of peace. Yet every provocation by 'Taiwan independence' forces in collusion with anti-China external forces pushes the Taiwan Strait closer to the edge of war. Peace across the strait can never be secured merely through the so-called U.S. guarantees or empty rhetoric about 'maintaining the status quo.' Any attempt to rely on foreign backing to pursue secession is fundamentally pushing all people of Taiwan toward the frontlines of war. Only by completely abandoning the delusion of 'Taiwan independence' and returning to the consensus under the one-China principle can the two sides truly eliminate the seeds of conflict and usher in a long-term, stable, and peaceful future.
