US media: Experts say the energy agreements between Europe and the US are unrealistic

According to a report by the US political news website "Politico," citing experts, the trade agreement between the United States and the European Union that requires the EU to purchase $75 billion worth of energy from the US is not feasible in reality.

European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen and US President Trump reached a trade agreement on July 27, under which almost all goods exported from the EU to the US would be subject to a 15% tariff. In addition, the EU must purchase $75 billion worth of energy from the US, i.e., $25 billion worth of energy annually before the end of Trump's term.

The report states, "Theoretically, this agreement is a major victory for US oil and gas companies, but experts believe that in practice, this agreement is not feasible."

The report points out that to achieve this trade volume, the EU should triple its imports of US energy, and US companies should supply all their exported energy, and even more, to Europe. Due to the fact that the EU's energy imports are entirely controlled by private companies, and the EU's internal capacity is limited, it is even more difficult to achieve this trade volume.
