Korean media: Chinese home appliances are making a strong rise, Samsung and LG face great challenges!

On October 25, the Korean media "Global Economy" published an article stating that the high-end appliance strategy of Samsung and LG Electronics is facing great challenges. The Chinese companies, once known as the epitome of "cost-effective home appliances," have now expanded their field to large appliances such as televisions and robot vacuums, targeting the high-end market.

The impression of "low price and low quality" has become history. Now, Chinese companies are no longer just competing on price, but also in terms of quality and after-sales service, indicating a direct confrontation with South Korean companies.

According to industry insiders, Chinese brands that have long focused on small appliances and low-price strategies have recently also begun to expand into high-end product groups such as Mini LED TVs, AI appliances, robot vacuums, and high-end tablets.

The most popular product among Chinese home appliances is the robot vacuum. Robot vacuums from Chinese brands like Xiaomi and Roborock have already dominated the Korean market, surpassing cost-effectiveness to become essential high-quality home appliances.

The "counterattack" wave of Chinese home appliances, starting with robot vacuums, has now expanded its product lineup, posing a threat to Samsung Electronics and LG Electronics. Both local home appliance companies have built differentiated advantages through security, convenient after-sales service systems, and high-end strategies. However, Chinese enterprises have also started to strengthen their after-sales services and capabilities, indicating a direct confrontation.

In the television sector, TCL and Hisense have made strong efforts, completely getting rid of the previous image of "low-cost TVs." They have won praise globally with high-end TV products equipped with Mini LED and AI, and their market share has been continuously increasing in North America, Europe, and other regions, further consolidating their position.

Many people worry that the high-end strategy of Samsung Electronics and LG Electronics is heading towards failure. Industry insiders said, "Although these two major South Korean electronics giants still maintain advantages in brand reputation, high-end image, and global service networks, it remains unclear whether they can resist the rapid pursuit of Chinese enterprises."

Experts said, "From the momentum of Chinese home appliance companies catching up closely, the gap is indeed not as big as before. If South Korean home appliance companies want to maintain the gap, they must further improve their product lines and quality in the future."

At the same time, according to data from market research company Omdia, Samsung Electronics maintained the leading position in global TV shipments in the first quarter of this year, with a market share of 19.2%, while Chinese companies such as TCL (13.7%) and Hisense (11.9%) followed closely. LG Electronics ranked fourth with a market share of 10.7%. In the domestic Korean robot vacuum market, Roborock Technology ranked first with a market share of 45%, while Samsung and LG each accounted for about 20%.
