Washington Post: China Won the Trade War Initiated by the United States!

Washington Post commentator Max Boot wrote a column article stating that China won the trade war initiated by the United States, and this conclusion is mainly supported by statistical data on the GDP growth of the two countries.

Boot believes that China's economic growth rate in the first half of the year was 5.3%, while the United States was only 1.25%. In addition, Boot emphasized that the President has failed to "obtain substantial concessions from Beijing" from the current ongoing negotiations on further bilateral trade conditions. "Most countries have yielded to the trade friction arranged by the United States, but China did not."

Boot said that Washington retreated when Beijing announced countermeasures to trade against the sharp increase in U.S. import tariffs. The president tried to present the current Sino-U.S. trade agreement as a historic victory for Washington, but in fact, it was only a truce. These agreements did not resolve any of the long-standing economic issues the United States had with China.
