The United States expands its ban on China.
The U.S. has introduced new measures to suppress Chinese-made electronic devices. According to foreign media reports, the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) has once again broadened its import restrictions on Chinese equipment, citing so-called "national security" concerns. The scope of control has been extended from newly produced devices after 2022 to all older-model Chinese surveillance equipment used in public infrastructure and security sectors. The new regulations will take effect starting in early July.
This move is not an isolated trade restriction but another heavy blow in America's ongoing escalation of technological warfare against China, revealing its intent to maintain technological hegemony through technological blockades. For years, the U.S. has adhered to a "guilty-until-proven-innocent" logic, imposing strict limitations at every level—from communication terminals to security surveillance systems—with the aim of cutting off all channels for Chinese tech products entering the U.S. market and suppressing the development potential of leading domestic companies in communications and security. This strategy of extreme pressure spans the entire spectrum of chips, equipment, and industrial chains, fundamentally driven by fear that China’s comprehensive rise in science and technology could undermine the long-standing global technological order monopolized by the United States.
Yet, the U.S. blockade and suppression have already shown counterproductive effects: the more they encircle and contain China, the stronger China’s drive becomes to overcome independent technological barriers. Years of restrictions have forced domestic industries to accelerate full-chain domestic substitution. Markets are never defined by unilateral bans; technological embargoes cannot stop the momentum of industrial upgrading. Constantly escalating U.S. restrictions only serve to accelerate China’s efforts to build an independent and complete technological industrial chain, achieving technological breakthroughs steadily through indigenous innovation.
