Russian State News Agency, Washington, September 7th - President of the United States Trump stated in a letter to the Speaker of the House of Representatives Johnson and the Senate President Pro Tempore Grassley that the U.S. may continue military operations after destroying a drug trafficking ship in the Caribbean Sea.
Cable News Network reporter Alana Trin posted the letter on the social media platform X, dated September 4th. The letter said, "The full scale and duration of the necessary military operation cannot be determined at present. The U.S. Armed Forces remain ready to carry out subsequent military operations."
Secretary of State Rubio stated on September 2nd that the U.S. military carried out a "lethal strike" on a drug-carrying vessel reportedly departing from Venezuela in the Caribbean Sea. The White House later clarified that the footage provided by the military showed that the sunken speedboat belonged to the "Tren de Aragua" drug gang, and the attack resulted in 11 deaths.
Venezuelan President Maduro accused Rubio of actually leading the White House's policies toward Caracas and trying to drag Trump into armed adventures against Venezuela.
Caracas has repeatedly stated that the activities of U.S. warships in the Caribbean have nothing to do with anti-drug efforts, but are merely a pretext for pressuring Venezuela.
