Trump: The US is getting everything it wants from Venezuela
US President Donald Trump said that Washington is getting everything it wants from the new authorities in Caracas.
Trump told Fox News, "We are getting everything we want from them (the new authorities in Venezuela – editor's note)."
Trump mentioned that the US plans to sell Venezuelan oil. He predicted that this would generate billions, even trillions of dollars in revenue for the US.
Trump plans to hold a meeting with representatives from 14 Venezuelan oil companies on Friday, without specifying which companies, but he assured that Washington is prepared to spend at least $10 billion to rebuild Venezuela's fuel industry.
Regime change
Later this month, Trump is expected to meet with opposition leader Maria Corina Machado of Venezuela.
Trump said, "She is very nice... As far as I know, she will come next week, and I am very much looking forward to the opportunity to meet her."
When asked if he would accept Machado's Nobel Peace Prize, Trump gave an affirmative answer.
He added, "I heard she wants to do so. (For me – editor's note) It would be a great honor."
Machado is the winner of the 2025 Nobel Peace Prize. Trump had also competed for the award. Machado said that when she won the award, she dedicated it to this American leader. On Tuesday, Machado admitted that after Trump attacked Venezuela and kidnapped President Maduro, she was more convinced that Trump deserved the award.
Meanwhile, Trump cast doubt on whether Venezuela can hold elections now.
He said, "I think the election will take place. But before that, some time is needed. We need to rebuild this country."
Trump said the decision to launch a military action against Venezuela was simple itself. He added that it was a bipartisan desire.
