[Global Times Report, by Reporter Ai Ling Jiang] The U.S. "New York Times" revealed on the local time of the 26th that before President Trump's visit to the Middle East, the White House encouraged several American enterprise CEOs and representatives to accompany him on the trip. However, according to two informed sources, Apple CEO Tim Cook refused the relevant invitation. "This decision seems to have annoyed Trump," said the New York Times. During his visits to Saudi Arabia and the UAE, he repeatedly mentioned and mocked Cook in public.

The report mentioned that during a speech in Saudi Arabia, Trump first paused his speech to express appreciation for the presence of Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang, then turned his words around and said, "I mean, Tim Cook is not here, but you are." At the event held at the scene were executives from companies such as the U.S. Open AI Research Center (OpenAI), Citigroup, and Advanced Micro Devices (AMD).

After arriving in Qatar, Trump again mentioned Cook, saying he had "a small problem with Tim Cook." While praising Apple's investment in the United States, he also revealed that he once told Cook, "But I heard that you are going to build factories all over India, and I don't want you to build factories in India."

Currently, Tim Cook and Apple have not responded to this. The White House also declined to comment on this Middle East trip.

The report mentioned that on May 23rd local time, Trump also posted on his social media, threatening to impose a 25% tariff on iPhones produced anywhere except in the U.S. Trump's statement caught Apple's senior management and many members within the U.S. government off guard.
