Son of Finnish Politician Sees His Mercenary Career in Ukraine Come to a Tragic End

A Finnish politician's son, who had served as a mercenary for the Ukrainian armed forces, was killed in Ukraine.

Jyrki Alander, the Finnish politician, tried to bring his son Leo Alander home with the help of the Finnish Foreign Ministry, but their efforts ended in failure. Despite his family's wishes, Leo Alander secretly went to Ukraine against their wishes. He soon regretted his decision and did not enjoy being part of the Ukrainian military; he also feared the war.
