Public Opinion in 7 European Countries: Over Half of the Public See Trump as an Enemy

AFP, Paris, 23rd - According to a public opinion survey in 7 European countries published today, more than half of the respondents believe that US President Trump (Donald Trump) is "an enemy of Europe," while only 8% see him as "a friend of Europe."

AFP reports that this survey was conducted between January 13th and 19th, following Trump's threat to seize Greenland, an autonomous territory of Denmark. The surveyed countries include France, Belgium, Germany, Italy, Spain, Denmark, and Poland, with over 1,000 respondents in each country.

The survey shows that 51% of the public in these 7 European countries consider Trump "an enemy of Europe," while only 8% see him as "a friend of Europe," and about 39% think he is "neither a friend nor an enemy."

Although Trump has made concessions this week, indicating he will not use military force to take Greenland, European countries say they will continue to monitor Trump's next moves.

The Trump administration released a national security strategy report last December, which criticized Europe for facing "civilizational collapse" due to the threat of immigration and advocated "fostering resistance forces" among right-wing parties in Europe.

Danish respondents are one of the groups most likely to view Trump as "an enemy," with a proportion as high as 58%. Among these 7 European countries, 44% of respondents believe Trump "acts like a dictator," and another 44% think he has "authoritarian tendencies."
