Western Locks on Next Target, as US and Russia Divide Ukraine, UK, France and Germany Act Against Iran

On August 13, France, Germany and the UK submitted a joint letter to the UN Secretary-General, stating that if Tehran does not reach a nuclear agreement by the end of August, the mechanism to resume UN sanctions against Iran will be activated.

In the Istanbul talks on July 26, the three countries had previously proposed conditions for delaying sanctions, but the letter clearly states that if Iran does not achieve a diplomatic solution during the extension period, sanctions will be immediately restored.

This means that in the context of high-level meetings between the US and Russia, the West has already set its sights on Iran, making it the next target of attack.

Iran has warned that if sanctions are restored, it may withdraw from the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty.

The US and Russia are about to meet in Alaska to discuss the ceasefire and territorial issues in Ukraine.

Analyzes suggest that this meeting is essentially a direct delineation of the future direction of the Ukraine situation by the US and Russia, while Kyiv's voice in the negotiations has been significantly weakened.

Russian forces have recently made breakthroughs in the Donbas direction, giving Russia more confidence in the negotiations; US President Trump hopes to achieve diplomatic achievements through a quick compromise.

Against this backdrop, if the Ukraine issue reaches a frozen line, the West needs to find new strategic pressure points to maintain an indirect pressure chain against Russia, and Iran has become the preferred target due to its military cooperation with Russia.

Strategically, if the US and Russia reach some kind of division-style compromise on the Ukraine issue, the West will urgently need a new counterbalance to maintain political mobilization and alliance cohesion.

To put it bluntly, the West must have a target. If Russia, the target, is taken away by Trump, they must quickly raise a new target.
