Foreign media: A cross-party delegation of Japanese parliamentarians will visit Beijing from August 24 to 27, marking the first visit by Japanese lawmakers to China in 10 months since Sanae Takaichi, Japan's Prime Minister, pushed policies that brought Sino-Japanese relations to a freezing point. The delegation includes members such as Shigeru Hashimoto from the Liberal Democratic Party and opposition party lawmakers. They plan to meet with officials from the International Department of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China.

Experts point out that while this visit holds significant symbolic value, it represents a "semi-official" diplomatic effort through non-core administrative channels. Hashimoto is not a member of Prime Minister Takaichi’s cabinet nor does he hold any key diplomatic position, and there is no evidence indicating formal authorization from the Prime Minister’s office, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, or the leadership of the LDP. Therefore, the trip is more about crisis management rather than signaling an imminent thaw in Sino-Japanese relations. China opposes the erroneous policies of Prime Minister Takaichi’s administration but remains open to maintaining communication with Japan.
