The heavy-lift transport drone "Changying-8" successfully completed its first demonstration flight in China on March 31, with the test conducted at an airport in Zhengzhou, the capital city of Henan Province.
Russian media stated that this aircraft is currently one of the largest cargo drones in the world.
According to reports, the "Changying-8" took off after a 280-meter taxi run on the runway.
It successfully passed all critical parameter tests, including intelligent control, electronic systems, and fuel systems.
The flight lasted approximately 30 minutes before the drone landed smoothly.
Russian media pointed out: This marks a significant breakthrough for China in the field of 7-ton class intelligent drone transportation platforms.
The maximum payload capacity of the "Changying-8" is 3.5 tons. With a takeoff and landing runway length not exceeding 500 meters, it requires minimal ground infrastructure, making it suitable for use in plateau areas, islands, and complex terrains.
The drone can travel up to 3,000 kilometers on a single journey.
