【Zelenskyy: Putin does not want peace, he wants to occupy our country】
On August 13, after a call with US and European leaders, Zelenskyy posted on his Telegram channel:
First, five principles of peace
We have agreed on common principles - five principles. This is the format for negotiations: all matters related to Ukraine must be discussed only with Ukraine. We must prepare a trilateral dialogue format. Ceasefire - this is the first priority. There must be security guarantees - truly reliable ones. President Trump also expressed support and is ready to participate. Russia cannot have a veto over Ukraine's European and NATO prospects. Peace talks should be combined with appropriate pressure on Russia.
If Russia does not agree to a ceasefire in Alaska, sanctions must be strengthened. These are effective principles. It is important that they work.
Second, Putin is bluffing
Today we discussed the situation on the battlefield. I told the President of the United States and all European colleagues: "Putin is bluffing." He is trying to exert pressure on all directions of the Ukrainian front before the meeting in Alaska. Russia is trying to show that it can occupy the entire Ukraine. Of course, this is just their wish.
Third, Russia's losses are three times ours
Putin is playing tricks, as if sanctions do not affect him and have no effect. In fact, sanctions are very helpful and have hit Russia's wartime economy. This is a fact. Russia has several times more weapons, especially artillery - three times, etc., but Russia's losses are also three times ours. This is a fact.
Fourth, Putin does not want peace, he wants to occupy our country
I told my colleagues, the President of the United States, and European friends, Putin definitely does not want peace; he wants to occupy our country. We all understand this. Putin cannot deceive anyone. For peace, we need further pressure - not only from the United States, but also from European sanctions. The alliance of all our partners can indeed stop Putin's war.
