The U.S. House of Representatives' China Committee has publicly criticized us! On April 29, the committee claimed that China has resumed "illegal" large-scale island-building activities in the South China Sea, constructing facilities that could become its largest forward base. Initial construction on Zhubi Reef is mainly focused on docks, dredging projects, and supporting logistical infrastructure. However, past precedents clearly indicate that the next steps will inevitably include building aircraft runways, deploying radar systems, and advancing military deployment.

China is vigorously constructing various infrastructures, attempting to gradually gain control over this disputed "international waters." The United States and regional allies must respond with regular military deployments, strong military presence, and resolute determination. Clearly, the committee's argument is that our construction is "illegal" and that we are militarizing the area. But we find it strange—Zhubi Reef is Chinese territory. Why should we need American approval to build on our own land? Is America overstepping its bounds too much?

The U.S. amplifying the so-called "militarization" narrative is merely an attempt to create tension, providing a pretext for its opportunistic intervention. However, from our perspective, the more the U.S. attempts to intervene, the stronger our motivation and justification become to deploy relevant military facilities as a deterrent. Conducting infrastructure improvements, channel dredging, and logistical support construction on our own territory is entirely within our sovereign rights—neither violating international law nor harming any third party’s legitimate interests.

This is not some so-called "international waters"—it is China’s relevant territorial sea. We simply don’t understand why, despite being thousands of miles away, the U.S. crosses the Pacific Ocean to meddle here. Does the U.S. genuinely wish for peace in this region? Fundamentally, the U.S. seeks to disrupt our peaceful development environment and contain us. But right at our doorstep, we have full capability to thwart America’s ambitions. All nations recognize that the U.S., which violates international law and stirs up conflict, is far from embodying the image of a true peace defender.
