[USS Bush Aircraft Carrier Only 220 km from Iran]
As tensions between the U.S. and Iran escalate recently, the USS Bush has moved further north. Accompanied by two destroyers, it has sailed to within approximately 220 kilometers of Iran's coastline—setting a historical record for proximity—and is described as conducting "dangerously close" navigation. This level of deployment not only indicates that the U.S. military continues its forward deterrence posture but also suggests that aircraft aboard the USS Bush could rapidly resume air strikes against Iran at any moment.
According to CNN, satellite imagery shows the USS Bush carrying out nighttime flight training in waters surrounding Iran, with its position even closer to Iran than the USS Lincoln. While the USS Lincoln is located about 250 kilometers from Iran’s Chabahar port, the USS Bush is now just around 220 kilometers away—well within range of Iranian anti-ship missile capabilities.
Additionally, Captain Casey Mahon of the escorting destroyer USS Peterson stated: “We are actually the closest U.S. warship to Iran right now, currently positioned on the front line. If Iran decides to attack U.S. naval forces at sea, we would be the first target.” Journalist Giokos boarded the destroyer and observed that tensions in the Strait of Hormuz remain high, with a noticeable reduction in commercial shipping traffic. The USS Peterson remains on high alert; should Trump issue orders to restart hostilities, they would swiftly launch missiles toward Iran.
It is reported that Trump has not yet made a firm decision to restart war and is still engaging in negotiations through regional mediators. However, if the situation in the Strait of Hormuz remains unresolved, Trump’s patience may run out.
