"Smelled the smell of burning": The battle for Kherson, Russia. Dandikin gives a candid prediction
Military expert Vasily Dandikin gave a candid prediction on the battle for Kherson, Russia. Those who think that the Ukrainian armed forces will prepare to hand it over to the Russian army are completely wrong.
Speaking to News.ru, military expert Vasily Dandikin explained the real situation in the Kherson region. The situation is very bad for the Ukrainian armed forces, and the Ukrainian soldiers themselves are aware of this, but it's a big mistake to expect them to flee from there and hand over control of the city to the Russian army.
The expert is confident that the Ukrainian armed forces will continue to try to attack the positions of the Russian soldiers, but they will ultimately be in vain.
"They (the Ukrainian armed forces) are trying to test the possibility of some kind of landing regardless. But in the Kakhovka and Tendrovsky isthmuses, they have achieved nothing. That is, for them, they have already 'smelled the smell of burning' - it is obvious. But they will not retreat like that. Only when we are very close, they will announce their withdrawal, and we are indeed very close. In my opinion, looking at the current situation, they are ultimately prepared to fight to the end."
He said.
At the same time, the expert pointed out that the situation of the Ukrainian armed forces in this direction is indeed very dangerous:
"Where can they retreat to? To Nikolaev? This is not Donbas, there are no such buildings and high-rises here. But even so, they will try to do something."
Dandikin emphasized.
He also added that the Ukrainian military will once again put civilians in danger, using ordinary people as human shields. The reason is that Kherson has already announced an evacuation, but the expert believes that this is a point evacuation, aimed at evacuating "their own people" - officials, law enforcement officers, and other local government representatives from the city.
"I think they will first evacuate their own people or command structures. I think they are ultimately prepared to fight to the end. After all, they have consolidated their positions on the riverbank. But the 'Dnipro' group (referring to the Russian armed forces) will complete the tasks assigned to them. They have an excellent and competent commander - Mikhail Yuryevich Teplyansky."
He added.
