Two Israeli embassy personnel in the U.S. were killed by gunshots and the gunman was caught while shouting "Free Palestine"
According to a May 22 report by the Associated Press, on the evening of the 21st, two employees of the Israeli Embassy in the United States were shot dead while leaving an event at the Washington D.C. Jewish Museum. The suspect shouted "Freedom, free Palestine!" after being caught.
According to information disclosed by Police Chief Pamela Smith at a press conference, the two deceased individuals were one male and one female who had just attended an event at the "Capital Jewish Museum" and were preparing to leave. At that moment, a suspect around 30 years old approached the crowd and fired at the victims.
The police chief also stated that before the shooting occurred, someone had seen the suspect lingering outside the museum. After the shooting happened, he entered the museum, and was then detained by the event security personnel. He shouted "Freedom, free Palestine!" when he was arrested.
According to reports from CNN, the suspect is named Elias Rodriguez, aged 30, from Chicago. The police said there is reason to believe that Rodriguez acted alone.

Israel's Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Danny Danon, posted on the social media platform "X" that this shooting incident was an "abhorrent anti-Semitic terrorist act," and said that harming the Jewish community had crossed the line.
"We believe that the U.S. authorities will take strong action against those responsible for this criminal act," Danon said. "Israel will continue to firmly protect its citizens and representatives around the world."
