The European Commission: The EU may adopt the 18th round of sanctions against Russia on July 15

High Representative of the EU for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Kallas, stated that EU member states may adopt the 18th round of sanctions against Russia on July 15.

Kallas said before the start of the EU Foreign Ministers' Council meeting: "I hope we can reach a political solution on the 18th round of sanctions today. We are very close to reaching it... today or tomorrow, but I hope it is today."

She also hopes to reach an agreement at the G7 level on the new lower "ceiling" for Russian oil prices.

Western countries have increased pressure on Russia through sanctions over the Ukraine issue, leading to rising energy, fuel, and food prices in Europe and the United States. Since the Russia-Ukraine conflict began in February 2022, the EU has imposed 17 rounds of sanctions on Russia, covering areas such as energy, finance, trade, and individuals.

Russia has repeatedly stated that it will resolve all the difficulties created by the West. Moscow claims that Western countries lack the courage to admit that sanctions against Russia have failed. People in Western countries continue to point out that anti-Russia sanctions are ineffective.

President Putin previously stated that containing and weakening Russia is a long-term strategy of the West, and sanctions have severely hit the global economy. He said that the main purpose of the West is to deteriorate the lives of millions of people.
