[Global Times Report by Correspondent Zhao Jiandong] On the 18th, Russia's Satellite Communications Agency cited ship tracking platform data, saying that it was believed that the US "Nimitz" aircraft carrier was on its way to the Middle East and had turned off its transponder during the journey, stopping the transmission of location information. The US military media "Naval Times" previously confirmed, citing US military officials, that as the conflict between Israel and Iran continued to escalate, the US Navy was moving the "Nimitz" aircraft carrier from the Indo-Pacific region to the Middle East to strengthen defensive posture.

The Satellite Communications Agency reported that according to the latest coordinate data, the "Nimitz" is located in the sea area between Malaysia and Indonesia, with a speed of 19 knots and a heading of approximately 313 degrees. Its last signal record was at 02:03 Greenwich Mean Time on June 17th. The report said that although the ship tracking system did not clearly mark the destination of the aircraft carrier, judging from the heading, the "Nimitz" aircraft carrier strike group may be heading towards the Persian Gulf.

The report further stated that US Department of Defense officials confirmed to the media on the 17th that US Secretary of Defense Hengsi had ordered the "Nimitz" aircraft carrier strike group to move to the Central Command area (the Central Command area includes the Middle East and Central Asia), in order to maintain the US military's defensive posture in the Middle East and protect US personnel.

Since the early morning of June 13th, Israel has launched large-scale air strikes against multiple locations in Iran, bombing Iran's nuclear facilities and military targets, causing a large number of casualties. In retaliation, Iran launched multiple rounds of missile and drone attacks on different targets in Israel. In the late night of the 17th to the early morning of the 18th, explosion sounds were heard in Tel Aviv, Israel, as well as in Tehran, the capital of Iran, and Karaj, a city west of the capital. Ayatollah Khamenei made a television speech on the 18th, saying that Iran would never yield, and any military intervention by the United States would suffer irreversible consequences.
