High-ranking official's health in question!? Leader of the Reiwa Shinsengumi proposes drastic reduction in attendance of Sanae Takahashi at the Diet

On May 22, Yoshinori Yoshimura, leader of the Reiwa Shinsengumi and Governor of Osaka Prefecture, put forward a proposal suggesting a significant reduction in the number of times Prime Minister Takahashi attends sessions of the Diet.

In an interview with media conducted at the Osaka Prefectural Government office, Yoshimura stated that, given the physical and mental strain on Prime Minister Takahashi, her appearances in committee questioning sessions should be canceled, and related responses to inquiries should instead be handled uniformly by ministers in charge.

He explained that it would better serve national interests if Prime Minister Takahashi could focus exclusively on diplomatic negotiations—tasks only a head of state can perform.

Meanwhile, Yoshimura also suggested that opposition parties wishing to engage in policy debates with Prime Minister Takahashi need only ensure sufficient time for party leader debates.
